Frequently
asked questions

Do I need a doctor to refer me?

No, a referral is helpful, but not required. If you have had a recent injury, we can complete your ACC paperwork.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

Yes, anyone from your support network of family and friends is welcome.

What do I need to bring?

Please remember to bring any splint or brace that you may have been issued with, along with paperwork you may have regarding why you need Hand Therapy.

Do I need to fill in forms?

Yes, we require you to complete two forms: one for your contact details, brief medical information and signature consenting to treatment, and the other is a short questionnaire that will give us an overall picture of how your arm problem is affecting you.

What if I can’t make my appointment?

We understand that unexpected events happen or appointments clash. Do let us know if you cannot attend, preferably with at least 24 hours’ notice. Our receptionists can be contacted at any time, even outside of normal business hours. Appointments are booked to enable your recovery. Phone reception to re-book if you have missed your appointment. Details of our cancellation policy can be found on the appointments page.

I have a shoulder problem, should I book an appointment with you?

We don’t treat isolated shoulder and or neck problems. We recommend you book with a registered musculoskeletal physiotherapist. We are happy to give general advice if your shoulder problem is related to your hand, wrist, or elbow, and if we think you require specific shoulder physiotherapy we can refer you.
